My goal was to take batik from a craft to a fine art. I was inspired at a polo match by all the wonderful colors from the uniforms to the gorgeous flower arrangements. Also, trying to capture the action of an equine athlete is always a wonderful challenge. In this particular piece I was really trying to create softer edges where appropriate. That is always a struggle with batik.
